Nayes
I imagine that I will be using The Reading Room as the perfect excuse to start sifting through the hundreds of books that line my office walls. I truly can’t wait to share those experiences with you. So…welcome to the inside of my head…I will probably be exposing a lot of it.
I love just about anything when it comes to reading. When writing I like to think that I am inspired by authors like Nick Hornby, Anne Tyler, William Kowalski and Tony Parsons. And obviously I love their books just for reading too, but my reading interests are a lot more varied.
I very much tend to devour crime fiction novels. I guess this is because it’s what my mom mostly reads and she is the reason that I love books in the first place. I find it very hard to resist a new Kathy Reichs or Karin Slaughter or Tami Hoag. And I especially love Mary Higgins Clark. Her novel Where are the Children? is the first crime novel I ever read. Probably when I was about eleven or twelve.
I am a giant Harry Potter fan, and typically haven’t been able to find anything in the fantasy world to match it.
I hated Twilight. I read the first one and half books. *sob*
I think John Irving was possibly God in a former life.
And I think John van der Ruit is a damn good reason to be proudly South African.
I’m incredibly tempted to re-read all my favourite books so that I can share them with you properly. And I will probably be doing that quite a bit over the next while.
So, my fellow book lovers, I hope I can introduce you to something new. Do forgive me if get a little over-zealous from time-to-time.
Yours in love & ink!
